"Two rooms and a bath" is the term used to identify an articulated tram made up of three pieces, of which the two longer ends are the "rooms" and the smallest and suspended intermediate piece is the "bath”. The expression was appointed in the United States at the end of the 19th century, then spread throughout the world as this type of vehicle took hold between the 1910s and the 1960s.
This book, after tracing the historical and technical evolution of the "Two rooms and a bath" in the world, focuses on the 2700 Series trams in Turin and on the various phases of their existence, describing in detail their technical features and their modalities of use on the Turin network. A considerable attention and space in this work has been devoted to the Restaurant Tram 2758 and to the historic Tram 2759. The latter is currently the only tramway of the "Two rooms and a bath" type circulating in Italy and it is regularly employed on the historical Circular Line 7 in Turin. Its restoration, carried out by the ATTS Association, was completed in 2012.
